How to deal with overwhelm
This week I have been suffering from overwhelm.
Not only do I have two kids under four and a business to run, but I have been struggling with what seems like endless curveballs life is throwing me.
-
Finding our perfect house, putting an offer over WAAAAY over the asking price… and it going to someone else.
-
Multiple clients not paying me for work I have done.
-
The pressure of a 'million things to do' and deadlines approaching
-
Being woken up at 5.30 am every morning to a pre-schooler asking me to wipe her bum đ.
I write these blogs because, in some way, they are cathartic to me.
Putting pen to paper allows me to take a step back and reflect.
When I see my problems written down, I realise they are not problems at all.
-
I have a house and the opportunity to buy a new one.
-
I have clients who are paying me, and my business is doing well.
-
I have lots of incredible things happening in my life (all things I chose to do).
-
I have a beautiful daughter who (after wiping) snuggles into bed with me because she loves me.
Overwhelm is where you feel buried with things you think you must do.
Where negative, attached thoughts run around your brain (“I have to, I must, I should…”)
Where you feel like a victim of your circumstance.
Like you have no control or power over what happens next.
And, as with all problems… they are all in your mind.
If you feel overwhelmed or burnt out, take responsibility for where you are.
No one has control of the outside world.
Life will do what it wants.
But YOU have control of the way you respond to it.
Every problem, every stress, every piece of shit that life throws at you…
…Is teaching you a positive lesson you need to learn.
How can you be stronger?
How can you be more grateful?
How can you be more assertive?
How can you be more patient?
How can you be more accepting?
How can you be more loving?
How can you be more kind to yourself?
How can you create better boundaries?
How can you train yourself to see the positive?
Think about your biggest stress right now.
What is life trying to teach you that, if you listened, would dissolve this problem into nothing?
I believe that you don't have any problems.
You just think you do.
Have a wonderful week, my friend,
Jen
